Marvel Studios unveiled the first trailer for Loki at their Walt Disney Investor's Day presentation!
Loki is coming to Disney+! The first trailer for the new series was released earlier tonight at Walt Disney's Investor's Day presentation, and showed off what happened to Loki after he stole the Tesseract in Avengers: Endgame. He ends up working for the Time Variance Authority after being imprisoned by them, and it looks like he'll be adventuring throughout time with several fun callbacks to previous Marvel Cinematic Universe films and historical events!
Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Owen Wilson star as members of the TVA, and Jonathan Majors could be appearing as Kang the Conqueror prior to the villain's cinematic debut in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. This theory is bolstered by the wooden carvings of Kang seen in the TVA's headquarters in the trailer, implying that Loki could be appearing before the Council of Kangs. Where exactly the Loki series will go is unknown, although he does namedrop Thor and Heimdall towards the end - could this Loki come back to the MCU's main timeline in Thor: Love and Thunder?
I'm much more excited for Loki after seeing this trailer than I was from just hearing about the show, and I think it looks fantastic. I was expecting a teaser poster to be released to accompany the trailer, but it looks like we'll have to wait a bit longer for that!
Loki begins streaming exclusively on Disney+ in May 2021.
